Dentures are ‘false teeth’ that your dentist will make for you to replace your natural teeth. They can be taken out and put back in by you, and are usually made from a coloured acrylic that fits over your gums.
A full denture is a replacement for all the natural teeth in your lower or upper jaw, but if you have some teeth remaining then you may be offered a partial denture. Partial dentures use a metal frame to attach to your remaining natural teeth but can still be taken out or replaced by you.
Dentures require maintenance and over time may need to be relined or reshaped to ensure they still fit and work properly. They can take some getting used to but your dentist will work with a specialist dental laboratory to ensure that it fits your mouth well and works properly.
